Watch for our bays
and bars on ‘Baywatch’

PEOPLE familiar with the North Shore may recognize some of the scenes in "Baywatch Hawaiian Wedding," to be aired Friday at 7 p.m. on KHON-TV. Not long ago I saw Pamela Anderson say she was headed to Hawaii for the filming, but knew nothing about the story including who got married. The newly renovated Turtle Bay Resort is where many scenes were shot. The pool, slide and Pamela Anderson's bar are in reality the new Honu Pools and Hang Ten Bar. Not to give anything away, but the "wedding island" is actually Kawela Bay. And some scenes meant to be California look eerily like Rocky Point ...

RUNNING numerous restaurants isn't enough to keep chef Roy Yamaguchi fully occupied, apparently. He was one of the featured chefs at this year's Grammies post-party at the Sheraton Towers in N.Y. He joined four other top chefs to serve the 4,000 guests. Yamaguchi's next stop is at La Costa Resort and Spa where he'll cook for the world's top golfers. And you can bet golf-nut Yamaguchi will drag himself out of the kitchen to get in a practice round himself ...

Cooper caper

FORMER Star-Bulletin publisher John Flanagan took his wife, Starrtech Interactive president Mary Fastenau, to the Heart Ball and fell in love, sort of. The object of his affection was a Mini-Cooper which was on the silent auction list. You've got to have a bit of background. Fastenau is a University of Nebraska alum and former U. of Nebraska Rodeo Queen. And the car was painted in Nebraska Cornhuskers red. Guess who went home with a new red car that night ...

AFTER Roman Polanski won an award in England for his latest film, and received an Oscar nomination, new interest in his alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl culminated with a long interview between the now grown woman and Larry King Monday night. The woman, Samantha Geimer, lives in Hawaii with her three kids, an observation made here after she revealed her identity for the first time back in 1997. Yesterday I got a call from a female journalist in Tel Aviv asking if I had more information. She'd found my mention of Geimer on google.com and was trying to locate her. That Google doesn't miss a thing ...

IT was meant to be a Valentine's proposal, but foul weather prevented Dr. Andrew Ovenden from taking his longtime ladyfriend, Paula Scataloni to the top of Mauna Kea to propose. Days later the weather was still all howling winds, but Ovenden was persistent, made the trek and was able to make his intentions known above the wind by pulling out the ring. Scataloni accepted, with the proviso that she gets to choose the wedding site ...

Here we go again

DIVORCE attorney Brad Coates held his fourth annual "Heal the Hearts" ball on Valentine's Day at the Ocean Club. Some 900 people showed up, ranging from former and current clients to the judges and staff of Family Court and other colleagues related to the divorce family law field. The party was due to end at 9 p.m. but there was still dancing, romancing and mending of hearts going on until midnight ...
