Carats and cruises
for the winners of
Celebrity’s new contest

The simple "Celebrity" T-shirt featured in Celebrity Cruises' TV commercials costs $22 on the company Web site.

The cruise line with regular Hawaii stops is now offering a single, kicked-up version of the shirt, studded with $50,000 in diamonds as part of the grand prize package in its "Carats & Cruise Sweepstakes" running through April 15.

The company thought it would be "great fun to offer a prize package that is as extraordinary as the response to our campaign has been," said Steve Hancock, senior vice president of marketing.

The $109,000 grand prize also includes a cruise for two on any of the company's ships in the "best available suite including butler service," according to the Web site, $2,500 in credit toward onboard expenses, shore excursions, etc., and first-class air transportation.

A total of 10 first-prizes -- 7-night Caribbean cruises for two departing from Miami -- will be given away weekly; air fare is not included in those prizes, valued at $2,000.

The grand prize winner will be selected April 29.

"Winners will be notified by our online sweeps management vendor, (Michigan-based ePrize LLC), first by phone, followed by a certified mail letter," according to Elizabeth Jakeway, manager of corporate communications.

Weekly prize winners remain eligible for the grand prize, she said.

The contest may be entered online at www.celebrity.com, where the "official rules" link explains opportunities for bonus entries.

Entering the old-fashioned way involves sending 3 x 5-inch cards marked with an entrant's name, address, day and evening phone numbers, e-mail address, if any, and age to Celebrity Cruises Inc. Up to seven entries may be mailed separately to "The Celebrity Cruises Carats and Cruise Sweepstakes," c/o ePrize, PO Box 9052, Farmington Hills, Mich. 48333-9052. Official rules may be requested from the same address.
