Hawaii's Michelle Wie will play in four LPGA events this year, the maximum for non-tour members.

The 13-year-old received an invitation yesterday to play in the Jamie Farr Kroger Classic.

The tournament in Sylvania, Ohio, from Aug. 14-17 is the fourth LPGA Tour event invitation she has accepted this year.

"We were impressed with her playing credentials for such a young player," tournament director Judd Silverman said.

The Punahou eighth-grader has received sponsor's exemptions to play in the Kraft Nabisco Championship next month, the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship in April and the ShopRite Classic in June in Galloway, N.J.

Non-tour members are allowed to play in a maximum of four events per year.

LPGA rules prevent anyone from playing on tour full-time until their 18th birthday.

Last year, at the age of 12, Wie played in three LPGA events and missed the cut each time.
