Messages from the heart

The Bishop Museum hosted an observance yesterday in memory of the seven astronauts who died aboard the space shuttle Columbia. After a short service, people were invited to write messages that will be sent to the families of the astronauts who perished. Tara McCall, a student at St. Joseph School in Hilo, wrote her thoughts in a message book. Standing next to her was Pam Lyman, a teacher from St. Joseph. In the foreground is a picture of the shuttle Columbia's crew. St. Joseph students were attending the 2003 Pacific Symposium for Science and Sustainability at the museum. The event was attended by high school students from around the state.
