Yates signs with Mets

At New York, right-hander Tyler Yates, a Kauai High School graduate, agreed to a one-year contract with the New York Mets yesterday. Yates, 25, was 2-2 with a 1.32 ERA at Norfolk. He would get $300,000 in the majors, $50,000 in the minors.
