This dish was prepared by Punahou School student Andres Svec on "Hawaii's Kitchen" this week. The show airs at 5:30 p.m. Sunday on KHON/Fox.

Spicy Italian Pasta

Olive oil for sautéing
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup EACH sausage, onions and asparagus
1 can crushed tomatoes
Pinch EACH salt, pepper and crushed red pepper
Rigatoni pasta, cooked

Heat olive oil. Sauté garlic with sausage until sausage is browned. Add onions until "sweated out" (when water from onions dissolves). Add asparagus, then tomatoes. Add salt and peppers. Simmer 20 minutes. Serve over hot pasta.
