Former Hawaii Pacific cross country runner Sayuri Kusutani finished seven minutes behind Linda Huyck of Olympia, Wash., in the women's portion of the Las Vegas Marathon yesterday.

David Bronfenbrenner won the men's race.

Bronfenbrenner, from West Hazelton, Pa., finished in 2:33.34.

More than 3,500 runners competed in the race, with nine Hawaii residents finishing. Seven Hawaii residents finished the half-marathon run the same day.

This is the second year in a row the race did not offer prize money, race spokesman Al Boka said.
