DAIRY QUEEN
Chocolate and cherries are a Valentine's treat.

Plan ahead for
Valentine’s Day dining

If you're looking for a Valentine's treat that says all the right things (chocolate and sweetness), in the right color (pink) -- and all for a nominal price, Dairy Queen is offering a Choco Cherry Love Blizzard through February.

The new Blizzard blends cherry topping and chocolate chunks in a soft-serve ice cream.

If you're in a mood to spend a bit more on your sweetie, you'll probably be thinking of dinner out, in which case it's not too early to start calling around. Most restaurants offer special menus for Valentine's Day (Feb. 14, less than two weeks away), and they book up early for this holiday.

Here are some options:

An early Valentine: Montes Winery's Chilean wines will be featured in a six-course meal, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Chart House Honolulu. Chef James Sadiarin's menu includes Salmon Ribbons on a Skewer (with 2002 Sauvignon Blanc), Pan-Seared Chilean Sea Bass (2001 "Alpha" Chardonnay), Grilled Pekin Duck Breast (1999 "Alpha" Syrah), Mushroom-Stuffed Tenderloin of Beef (2000 "Alpha" Merlot), Fire Roasted Lamb Rack (1999 Montes "M") and Poached Pears. Cost is $50. Call 941-6669.
