New jobs

>> Philip Bossert has been named interim executive director of the High Technology Development Corp., a state agency in charge of facilitating the development and growth of Hawaii's commercial high technology industry. He was a former Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism deputy director and HTDC board member.

>> Nathan M. G. Yim has been appointed Hawaii Health Systems Corp. Oahu Region chief financial officer. He will oversee the financial operations of two of the company's long-term care facilities: Maluhia and Leahi hospitals. He was most recently Ohana Pacific Management Co.'s financial and operational manager.

>> Mark Hirai will act as branch manager and Jennifer Higa will be senior teller for Territorial Savings' new Kapahulu office.

Promotions

>> Bank of Hawaii has promoted four new senior vice presidents: Janet F. Mason, Gordon D. Nelson, Patricia Rohlfing and Nathan J. Sult. Mason maintains her duties as corporate insurance services manager and the bank's Pacific Insurance Services Inc. director. Nelson and Sult continue their role as law department assistant general counsels. Rohlfing carries on her responsibilities as Maui Commercial Banking Center manager.

On the board

>> The American Institute of Graphic Arts, Honolulu Chapter, has elected Stacey Leong Mills president of its board of directors. She has her own graphic design business. Other officers are: Vice President Bonnie Taam, Synergy Design; Secretary Karyn Yasui Lau, Team Vision; Treasurer Matt Heim, Electric Pencil. Board committee chairpersons are: Anne Sakutori and Karen Fox-Alcomindras, membership; Gayle Taketa, programs and events; Jan Olin Nakamura, sponsorship; Michael Lum, education. AIGA offers a support network for independent and corporate graphic artists and printers.

>> The Hawaii Society of Enrolled Agents has installed David Ramirez as president for 2003. Other officers are: Vice President Teri Nakayama, Treasurer Kathryn A. Moore and Secretary Melissa J. Lange.

>> KGMB and KHON Senior Vice President and General Manager Rick Blangiardi has joined the Hawaii Foodbank board of directors.

Recognition

>> The American Society of Civil Engineers has awarded an honorary membership to C. Dudley Pratt Jr. for his expertise in electrical power generation and operation within the constraints of an island environment and the research and development of alternate energy sources. He held the positions of president, chairman and chief executive officer of Hawaiian Electric Company Inc. prior to his retirement. In addition, Joanna Seto was presented with the ASCE co-National Young Government Civil Engineer of the Year Award. It recognizes engineers employed in public service. Seto works for the state Department of Health, Clean Water Branch, as an environmental engineer. And Tony Lau was presented with the ASCE Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement. It is presented annually to a young engineer who has shown significant service to the advancement of the profession. Lau works for Hawaii Pacific Engineers Inc. as a project civil engineer.

>> Colliers Monroe Friedlander Inc. Senior Associate Guy V. Kidder has been awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member designation by the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute. CCIMs are earned after completion of a graduate level curriculum and qualifying experience.
