The Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Earnings lift Cyanotech

Cyanotech Corp., which posted a narrower quarterly loss than a year ago and a 29 percent increase in sales, jumped 8 percent this week to lead 11 other companies in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index. The Kona company, down 60 percent last year, is the best performer of the group this year with a 35 percent gain. Its stock closed the week at 54 cents.

Maui Land & Pineapple Inc. had the week's second-best return as it advanced 7.1 percent to $16.55.

The worst performer was Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc., which fell 12.3 percent to 5 cents.
