>> Chuck Lee has been named Magic of Polynesia showroom manager. He previously worked in senior management positions at the Princess Kaiulani Hotel, Sheraton Coconut Beach Hotel, Coco Palms Resort Hotel and with the Spencecliff Corp.

>> State Farm Insurance has appointed Bill Flanders and Rosten Y. Tsuha financial services product associates. Flanders works in the Mililani office and Tsuha in Kapolei. Prior to joining the company, Flanders was an AXA Advisors financial consultant. Tsuha was previously an agent and sales manager with Prudential and Principal Financial Group. He has 15 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry.

PROMOTIONS

>> Central Pacific Bank has promoted Blenn A. Fujimoto to executive vice president and chief financial services officer. The bank has also promoted the following to senior vice president: Roland Chang, West Oahu division financial services senior manager; Bennette Evangelista, financial services senior manager; Charles Keyes, neighbor islands senior financial services manager; Carole Lau, Metro II Division senior financial services manager; and Candice Y. Naito, East Honolulu senior financial services division manager.

>> SMG Hawaii has promoted Sherry Pokakaa to senior event manager at the Hawaii Convention Center, Aaron Ichiki to event manager and George Bello to convention services supervisor. Pokakaa will work directly with meeting planners to organize and coordinate all function requirements for events. Ichiki will act as liaison between the center and its vendors. Bello will manage security, accident prevention, transportation services and asset protection.

>> Paradise Cruise Ltd. has promoted Eric Omick to executive chef. He oversees the daily production and presentation of meals served to more than 400,000 passengers annually on the Star of Honolulu and the Starlet. Omick was most recently sous chef. Paradise offers 13 daily cruises, including whale watching, snorkel and sunset itineraries.

>> The Westin Maui has promoted Bridgette Okamoto to public relations manager. She will oversee the hotel's public relations efforts, as well as Web site maintenance and advertising and marketing. Okamoto was previously the sales and marketing coordinator. She has been with the Westin Maui for almost two years.

ON THE BOARD

>> Joni Paahao has been named the 2003 chairwoman of the Oahu Visitors Bureau. She is senior vice president of sales and marketing for Aston Hotels & Resorts Hawaii. Paahao has more than 20 years of sales and marketing management experience. She was recognized as among the "Top 50 Women in Travel" by Travel Agent Magazine in 1998 and 1999. The OVB has a mission to create sustainable global demand for travel to Oahu.

>> Bob Koide was elected 2003 Hawaii Pest Control Association president. He is president of Environ Control. Other officers are: Vice President Shawn Murray, Aloha Termite and Pest Control; Second Vice President Alvin Fukuyama, State Termite & Control; Third Vice President Rodney Ono, Hilo Termite & Pest Control; Secretary Terrance Manago, Integrated Pest Management; and Treasurer Wes Otani. Directors are: James Tamura, STD International; Jason Popejoy, Commodity Fumigation & Pest Control; Ainsley Ahlo, Structural Pest Control; James Eschle, JLE Inc.; Mike Miske, Kamaaina Termite & Pest Control; and Jason Sahara, Oahu Termite & Pest Control.

>> Adelbert Green is Hawaii Lupus Foundation Inc. president for fiscal year 2003. He is an attorney with Dwyer, Schraff, Meyer Jossem & Bushnell. Other officers are: Vice President/Finance Edmund Kajiyama, First Hawaiian Bank senior vice president; Vice President/Outreach Amy Leong, Coldwell Banker Realtor-associate; Secretary Jennifer Okino and Treasurer Geoffrey Thom. RECOGNITION

>> The Building Industry Association of Hawaii has named Marke Development Inc. President Craig Watase Builder of the Year. Familian Northwest's Scotty Anderson won Associate Member of the Year and Raynor Pacific Overhead Doors Ltd. was awarded Specialty Contractor of the Year. And Alan Shintani of Alan Shintani Inc. was presented with an excellence in the field of construction award by the state Senate.
