Waiakea to reinstate
11 basketball players

Eleven of 12 Waiakea basketball team members will be reinstated Thursday, according to athletic director Ken Yamase.

The players were dismissed from the team two weeks ago for suspected alcohol use.

Yamase said one player's suspension will be longer than the others, but he didn't say when that player can return.

The reinstated players are eligible to play in Waiakea's home game Saturday against Honoka'a.

After the dismissal, eight junior varsity players were brought up to the varsity for the team's first three games and for tonight's game at Laupahoehoe.

Yamase said he and coach Jay Bartholomew are concerned about the playing condition of those being reinstated, since they've missed a lot of practice time.

Viloria to see hand specialist

Waipahu flyweight Brian Viloria won every round of his latest fight, but the third could go down as a loss in the long term.

Viloria may have broken his hand during the round, and he certainly broke one of his opponent's ribs.

Viloria, who beat Alejandro Moreno by unanimous decision Friday, will see Dr. David Kulber today. The hand surgeon operated on Viloria's hand after he broke it in his first fight.
