WONG CROWNED NARCISSUS QUEEN

Kathleen Mei Lan Wong was crowned 54th Narcissus Queen on Saturday at the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall. Wong and her court will serve as ambassadors of aloha during the Narcissus Goodwill Tour to China this summer, as well as represent the Chinese community at various isle events.




OLDEST WORLD WAR I VETERAN TURNS 102

Retired Col. Frank Steer, the oldest living World War I combat veteran, was honored yesterday with a 102nd-birthday celebration at the Marine Base Officers Club in Kaneohe. A 1925 West Point graduate, Steer posed for pictures with Tara Easley, Mrs. Hawaii International, who was there with her husband, also a West Point graduate.

Visitor Sandy Goldman, of Orange Park, Fla., took some time yesterday to watch the play of light and color provided by a diaphanous sculpture called "Twisterz" during the arts and crafts festival at Ala Moana Beach Park.
