Willoughby 1 of 4 finalists
for volleyball’s Honda award


Junior Kim Willoughby is one of four finalists for the Honda Award in volleyball. The Honda Awards recognize the achievements of the top female collegiate athletes in their respective sports.

At the end of the year 12 award winners compete for the Honda-Broderick Cup and the title of Collegiate Woman of the Year.

Stanford's Logan Tom, Emily Adams of USC and Aury Cruz of Florida are the other finalists. The award will be announced on Monday.

Wilson to conduct clinic at Olomana

PGA Tour player Dean Wilson of Kaneohe will conduct a clinic at the Olomana Golf Links today from 3 to 5 p.m.

Wilson, who finished in a tie for 23rd in last year's Sony Open, will give an exhibition on the driving range and show his skills on the course by playing four or five holes.

The clinic is free and open to the public.

Former UH player cleared at Penn State

Penn State junior guard Melanie Croser of Canberra, Australia, who played her freshman season with the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine, was reinstated Thursday and is eligible to play immediately according to NCAA officials.

Croser, who transferred to Penn State following a one-year stint at Southern Idaho Junior College, was originally supposed to serve a 21-game suspension by the NCAA for participation in a foreign league in her native country of Australia.

Croser missed 14 games.

NASCAR's Hamilton to appear at Pearlridge

Driver Bobby Hamilton Jr. and the No. 25 Team Marines Racing Ford Taurus will appear at Pearlridge Center today at noon.

Hamilton is ninth in the NASCAR Busch series championship standings. He is also the son of NASCAR legend Bobby Hamilton.
