Mid-Pacific slips past
University 33-31

Mid-Pacific's Brandyn McCall scored on a layup just before the buzzer to lift the Owls to a 33-31 victory over University in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu opener for both teams last night at MPI's gym.

Mid-Pacific's Ryan Leong led all scorers with 12 points. McCall finished with eight.

Tommy Chun-Ming paced University with eight points.

Saint Louis 72, Damien 57: Damien went into halftime with a four-point lead, but Saint Louis center Wilson Afoa scored seven points in the third quarter and eight in the fourth to pull away from the Monarchs.

Jonah Lakatani scored nine of his 22 points from the outside in the final quarter, when the Crusaders held the Monarchs to just two field goals.

Lakatani also recorded eight steals and six assists in the win.

Kamehameha 40, Maryknoll 32: Eric Shaver scored nine of his game-high 15 points in the third quarter and the Warriors held off the Spartans to open the ILH season with a victory.

Kevin Lee led Maryknoll with 12 points.

Kamehameha takes on defending ILH champion Iolani on Friday at Kekuhaupio Gym.

Kaiser 44, Kailua 43 (OT): Jody Marxen hit a layup with less than a second remaining in overtime to give the Cougars the victory over the Surfriders.

Kaiser led 36-26 after three quarters, but Kailua stormed back to outscore the Cougars 14-4 in the fourth period and send the game into overtime.

Kaiser's Steven Pratt led all scorers with 14 points, while Kekoa Kamauoha added 11.

Roosevelt 58, Moanalua 40: Bryson Borges scored a game-high 24 for Roosevelt and Anthony Holyfeld scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half as the Rough Riders took control late in the game and defeated the Menehunes.

Chris Young led Moanalua with 16 points.
