Maui County honors its
top workers of last year

WAILUKU >> Lynette Zakabi has been named the County of Maui Employee of the Year for 2002.

Zakabi, a county planner who has received several letters of appreciation for her work, was cited for her outstanding performance and excellent customer service skills.

The county Management Employee of the Year award was awarded to police Capt. Jeffrey Amaral. In addition to commanding the Molokai District, Amaral successfully supervised the Police Department's transition to an 800-megahertz emergency dispatch radio system.

The award for county Employee of the Year on Lanai was given to Police Department clerk-typist Ivy J. Takushi.

Larry L. Rawlins Jr., a firefighter, was named the Employee of the Year on Molokai.

The winner of the Department of the Year award was the Department of Housing and Human Concerns, and the Director/Deputy Director of the Year award went to Alice Lee, director of Housing and Human Concerns.

The Team of the Year Award was given to the Kaunoa Senior Services Meals on Wheels Team in the Department of Housing and Human Concerns.
