Student filmmakers wanted
Submissions are being accepted from now till March 15 for the Fourth Annual Hawaii Student Film Festival, returning sometime in April, with venues on Kauai, Maui, Molokai and Oahu. Festival entrants are open to Hawaii students from kindergarten up through college age. This year, the festival will include a new division for filmmakers who take classes at public-access television stations on each island. Talk on special diet
T. Colin Campbell, co-chairman of the World Cancer Research Fund, will be the January guest speaker of the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii. Campbell will speak on his ongoing China-Oxford-Cornell Diet and Health Project at 7 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Honolulu Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.Admission is free. Campbell will also speak on Maui, 7 p.m. next Wednesday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church and in a dinner lecture, 7 p.m. Jan. 9 at Castle Medical Center. Reservations required. Call 263-5400.
Campbell's principal scientific interest since the late 1950s has been the effects of nutritional status on long-term health, particularly involving cancer.
Wine pairing at Indigo
Indigo Restaurant will host a wine pairing presented by Robert Salz, northwest regional manager of Clos du Val, on Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. Chef Glenn Chu created a menu to compliment the wine, which includes passed hors d'oeuvres and four courses with entree of Lamb Loin Medallion with Mandarin Orange Glaze, Beef Tenderloin Medallion with Szechwan Peppercorn Sauce and Chive Crisp Noodle Cake.
