FIREWORKS

Aloha Tower Marketplace: Hawaii Explosives and Pyrotechnics presents a 20-minute fireworks show at midnight. Call 566-2337 for more information.

Fireworks cruise: Enjoy classic rock aboard Alii Kai Catamaran Cruises, with performances by "Bruddah Time" and "Baby New Year," 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sponsored by The Big Kahuna 105.9. Cost is $10.59 per person. Call Roberts Hawaii at 539-9400 for reservations.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Golden Oldies Rockin' New Year's Eve: Countdown to 2003 begins at 8:30 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural Center's Manoa Grand Ballroom. Tom Moffatt hosts the event, which featuring music from the '50s and '60s with performances by Rubber Soul, The Tradewinds, The Golden Oldies Singers and The Party Dolls. All-you-can-eat buffet dinner package is $65. The $35 party package includes all-you-can-eat snacks. Both include one cocktail and a champagne toast at midnight. Call 922-1886.

"A High Voltage New Year's Eve": Performances by "Creation -- A Polynesian Journey" and the Honolulu Dance Company and a dinner buffet that includes filet mignon and lobster at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel. Under the stars: Camp Timberline is offering both cabin and tent camping packages, which include a fireworks watching vantage point. Check in, 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 31. Check out, 11 a.m. Jan. 1. Hong Kong Harbour View Seafood Restaurant: Menu includes assorted seafood with tofu soup, mayonnaise prawns with honey walnuts, orange peel beef, braised black mushrooms on choy sum, steamed rice and dessert; $25 per person (based on two people). The lineup includes Kapena, Tamali'i O Patitifa Dance Company, Brother Noland, Makaha Sons, Robi Kahakalau and Kanilau with a special appearance by The Soldiers of the Royal Guard and a Chinese Lion Dance. The Society of Seven Las Vegas will help celebrants ring in the new year at the Outrigger Main Showroom.

Two packages are offered for revelers. Early starters can start with a buffet dinner beginning at 7:45 p.m., with carved prime rib, seafood Newburg, mahimahi tempura, an extensive salad bar, assorted desserts and more, before enjoying the performance and accompanying split of champagne, party favors and dancing. The complete package is priced at $125 per person.

If you need time to put on your party wear, seating for the cocktail show starts at 9 p.m. and includes two performances by SOS, a split of champagne, party favors and dancing. The cost is $95 per person.

No one under 21 will be admitted.
