Crazy Shirts Hawaii has re-released a limited edition of "Crazy Classics," five of the most popular and most requested shirt designs as chosen by staffers and customers from around the world, who cast their votes on the company's Web site. The shirts represent each decade since the company's debut in 1964.

The Crazy Classics and their original release date are:

>> The Crazy Shirts First Three Color Logo design (1964): The logo design has been one of the most popular shirts since its release during the company's first year of business.

>> Crazy Shirts Rat Race (1971): This humorous depiction of rats running a marathon has been the No. 1 bestseller in the company's history.

>> Surfer Hawaii (1974): The lone surfer riding the perfect wave captured the spirit of endless summer and the romance of a surfer's lifestyle. This design received the most number of votes.

>> Big Wave Dave's (1986): Big Wave Dave's was a popular North Shore surf shop in the 1980s. The caricature of Dave continues to be beloved.

>> Buck Necked's (1994): The complete title is Buck Necked's Hot Tub Pub, Shed Your Skin and C'mon In. 'Nuff said.

CRAZY SHIRTS HAWAII
One design getting high votes in the Crazy Shirts online survey was Rat Race, designed in 1971.

In running the contest, Crazy Shirts president and CEO Mark Hollander said, "We found that our customers truly appreciate the finest details of these designs as well as hold fond memories from the years in which they were first introduced."

For example, the surfer figure in the "Surfer Hawaii" design sports a mustache in the style of 1974. When the company re-released the design without the mustache, figuring that it dated the figure, customers protested.

The crew-neck shirts for men and women run in sizes S through XXL, at about $21. Special hang tags accompanying the classic shirts feature factoids about the year of the release date providing a younger generation with a background of the times in which each design was conceived.
