Hip-hop party going
down at Pipeline Cafe

PIPELINE CAFE is the hot spot tonight, as Heavy State Industries and Matty Liu present the "S-3 Hip-Hop Party." It'll be a mix of surf, street and sound at the club: Hawaiian Island Creations will give away a custom board to one lucky person, and Hyper Sports Racing will award $1,000 for the fastest lap on the video game "Grand Turismo 3" that will be set up. Also, Ezekiel Clothing will give away a complete wardrobe to someone in the club.

Doors open at 10 p.m. tonight for this 18-and-over party; visit www.mattyliu.com for complete details. Also, keep an eye out for the guys from Hawaiian Extreme Sports while you're at the Pipe. They'll be there looking for a new host for their television show ...

OVER AT ZANZABAR, the guys from 104.3 XME and Da Lion Productions are making it possible to surf in a nightclub on Sunday nights. We're not talking about crowd surfing either -- there's an actual surfboard set up on the second floor of the club.

The "Tsunami Surf Simulator" is hooked up to a 61-inch television with a Playstation 2 and allows players to shred virtual waves in the game "Transworld Surf."

Qualifying will continue over the next two weeks for a shot at more than $1,500 in cash and prizes that will be given away at the finals on Jan. 19. Also on hand to keep the party moving each week are XME DJs Big John, KT, G-Man, Hawaiian Ryan and Da Lion of Judah. 18 and over are welcome at Zanzabar, and don't forget about the $1 parking at the Waikiki Trade Center ...

THIS SUNDAY also marks the return of comedian Wayne Brady to the islands for the second time this year. Brady last visited in May, and is likely in town to celebrate the holidays with his local-born wife and family, in addition to performing at the Sheraton-Waikiki.

Tickets are $35 and $45 for Sunday night's show and may be purchased at any TicketPlus outlet. Call 922-4422 for more info ...

FINALLY, be sure to check this space on Tuesday for a complete rundown of New Year's parties worth stopping by. If there's something big going on in your neighborhood, send me an e-mail or give me a call at 529-4766 ...
