ART BUFFS will find their Seventh Heaven at "MMM-V," Koa Gallery's Mixed Media Miniature Fifth Annual Invitational Show.

The exhibit features the work of close to 140 fine artists, "some of the best working fine artists in Hawaii," said gallery director David Behlke.

The show has three purposes, Behlke says. It brings together a quality art show during the holidays, raises funds for Koa Gallery, and most important for art aficionados, offers fine art pieces at reasonable prices.

Lucille Cooper, a noted clay, fiber and jewelry artist, creates a clay mask adorned with turquoise beads, green stones and black fiber. One of the best known hand builders in Hawaii, Esther Shimazu offers a striking nude sculpture of a woman. A moody photograph by Duane Preble captures misty mountains and treetops.

Behlke says this year's collection features lots of 3D pieces and a whole wall dedicated to erotica.

"MMM-V" runs through Dec. 17 at Koa Gallery, located on the Kapiolani Community College campus.

The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.Saturdays. It will be closed Thursday through Sunday for the Thanksgiving weekend.
