The fall signing period used to be a dead zone for the Hawaii basketball team.

But the Rainbows have received two early commitments for the 2003-04 season and another -- Iolani's Bobby Nash, the son of former UH star and current assistant Bob Nash -- could be on the horizon.

Logan Lee, a 6-foot-2 point guard, is the latest to pledge to UH. He visited earlier this month along with 6-8 forward Jeff Blackett, who committed last week.

Lee is a freshman at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. He can transfer to UH as a sophomore and play right away because he qualified for Division I coming out of high school.

The Rainbows beat out South Alabama for Lee, a shooter with point-guard skills. He was a second-team Texas 5A all-stater at John Marshall High School in San Antonio.

Blackett is going into his second season at Salt Lake Community College. He averaged 18.4 points and a team-high 9.3 rebounds last year. He also led the Bruins with 34 blocks in 30 games.

Nash, a two-time Star-Bulletin first-team all-state selection, is a 6-6 senior forward who has the outside shooting touch to play wing in college.

Nash averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, two steals and nine blocks during his junior year as the Raiders won the state championship last season.

He is ranked No. 98 on the RivalsHoops.com Top 100 high school prospect list, and No. 22 at small forward.

"He's also considering Baylor, Oklahoma and West Virginia," said Domelynne Nash, Bobby's mother.
