Hawaii’s Kahumoku
wins WAC honor



Hawaii's Lily Kahumoku was named the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week today.

The 6-foot-2 junior finished with a .382 hitting average in wins over Southern Methodist and Texas-El Paso last week.

In the victory over UTEP, the left side hitter had 25 kills -- one shy of her career high-- and nine digs. Against SMU, Kahumoku finished with 11 winners and 16 digs.

Combined, she averaged 6 kills and 4.17 digs in the two victories.

Also nominated were Fresno State's Kristen Fenton, Louisiana Tech's Lia Mora, Nevada's Michelle More, and Rice's Rebecca Kainz.
