NEW JOBS

>> Hawaii Dental Service has named Samuel Ishimura director of dental practices. The 30-year veteran of dentistry will serve as HDS's primary liaison with the dental profession. He will direct the professional activities for several areas of HDS, including quality of care reviews and clinical compliance issues. Ishimura also will supervise the managers of the professional relations and dental consulting departments. Before joining HDS, Ishimura spent 12 years at The Queen's Medical Center as director of its dental residency program.

>> Aston Hotels & Resorts Hawaii has hired Milton Lafitaga as sales manager. He will be handling airline, travel agent and travel partner accounts. Lafitaga has a background in sales and marketing, most recently working at Hard Rock Café. Carol Hanna has been named rooms division manager at the Aston Waikiki Beachside Hotel. Most recently, she served as chief purser for American Hawaii Cruises. And Demi Yamamoto has returned to Aston as front office manager of the Mahana at Kaanapali, an oceanfront condominium resort. Yamamoto has held positions with the Royal Kahana, Aston at Papakea Resort, Aston Maui Kaanapali Villas and Palms Travel Service on Maui. Aston, owned by ResortQuest International, operates 33 condominium resorts and hotels on four Hawaiian islands.

PROMOTIONS

>> PacificBasin Communications LLC has promoted John Alves to vice president and group publisher. He will continue to serve as publisher of Honolulu Magazine, while also assuming oversight of Hawaii Business, Hawaii Home + Remodeling and the Ala Moana Holiday Gift Book. Scott Schumaker has been promoted to associate publisher of Honolulu Magazine and Terry Rollman has been named associate publisher of Hawaii Home + Remodeling. Alves joined PacificBasin last year when the company bought Honolulu Magazine from Honolulu Publishing Co. Ltd. Schumaker previously served as advertising director and account executive of Honolulu Magazine. Rollman was formerly the director of communications for a law firm in Austin, Texas.

>> Bank of Hawaii has promoted the following loan service center personnel to assistant vice president and manager: Tina Klyver, Maui; Lisa Ledesma, Kauai; Pom Luxton, downtown Honolulu; Alan Miyasaki, east Oahu; Cindy Okamura, west Oahu; and Paulette Suzuki, Kapolei.
