The first large swell of the winter arrived yesterday on the North Shore of Oahu. A 15-foot wave broke over the outer reef at Banzai Pipeline.

Calm weather yesterday left a pond at Ala Moana Park still, creating an almost perfectly mirrored reflection of the landscape in its waters.

Heavy rains earlier this week flushed trash and debris into the ocean, some of which was visible along the shore of Ala Moana Beach Park yesterday.

First Insurance employees and agency partners took part in a charity jail-a-thon yesterday, with the proceeds benefiting the Aloha United Way. "Convicts" were held for an hour unless they could raise $10. Darrell Lum, wearing a ninja outfit, "jailed" Pat Tavares, middle, and David Horiuchi.
