‘Big Bounce’ adds
Sheen to its cast


Charlie Sheen has his first post-"Spin City" feature film role, joining Owen Wilson, Morgan Freeman, Gary Sinise and Sara Foster in the cast of "The Big Bounce" for director George Armitage. Production is set to begin on Oahu Oct. 28. Sheen will portray Bob Rogers Jr., the right-hand man of powerful construction magnate Ray Ritchie (Sinise) who finds himself in love with Ritchie's mistress (Foster) and at odds with Jack Ryan (Wilson) and Walter Crewes (Freeman). British actor Vinnie Jones ("Snatch" and "Swordfish") also joins the cast ...

"The Punisher," a film in the vein of writer Garth Ennis' run on the Marvel comic book, is considering filming in Hawaii early next year, but according to sources, don't expect the copycat vigilante characters of The Holy, The Elite and Mr. Payback to appear in the film. "The Punisher," which will be rated "R," is being thought of as a franchise series.

The film's heavies will be based closely on the crime syndicate villains from the series and other bad guys that main character Frank Castle encounters. The comic book is about a well-armed combat veteran who takes on crime. Jonathan Hensleigh ("Armageddon") is set to direct. The property was first made into a low-budget film starring Dolph Lundgren in 1990. Marvel Comics is partnering up with Artisan Entertainment ...

"E.R.", which filmed on Oahu earlier this year, is considering returning in December to do two more episodes ...

"Man of War," starring Bruce Willis, will return to Oahu this year for some second unit photography that includes aerial shots and what may be the film's biggest explosion scene, likely to be filmed at the production's jungle village set in Waialua. The latest announced release date is March 7, 2003. And the film's working title has now run full circle, from "Man of War" to "Hostile Act" to "Hostile Rescue" to "Tears of the Sun" and reportedly back to the original title ...

Former NBC sports commentator Ahmad Rashad is host of ABC's upcoming celebrity edition of "The Mole" that will film on the Big Island next month and air later this season.

Rashad replaces host Anderson Cooper. Celebrities already confirmed for "The Mole" include Kathy Griffin and Stephen Baldwin.
