Fund-raiser to benefit ailing
Iolani’s Kang set for Nov. 26

A fund-raiser to help with Iolani girls volleyball coach Ann Kang's battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease will be held Nov. 26 at the Pacific Beach Hotel's grand ballroom.

Kang was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in April. The dinner, A Thanksgiving Fundraiser for Ann Kang, will help offset her medical expenses.

Donations made payable to "Friends of Ann Kang" are also being accepted at all First Hawaiian Bank locations.

Kang played volleyball at the University of Hawaii from 1976-78 and became the first female physical education teacher at Iolani in 1979.

She coached the school's first girls volleyball team in 1982 and has organized the Iolani Invitational volleyball tournament for the last 20 years.

Last season, Kang guided the Raiders to an undefeated season and their first Interscholastic League of Honolulu and state championships.

This season, Iolani is 7-1 in the ILH.

Tickets for the fund-raiser are $30. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and will include live entertainment, a silent auction and dinner.

For more information, call 544-8322 or see the fundraiser website at www.iolani.honolulu.hi.us/ann.htm.
