Conference will address
caring for ill loved ones

"Sharing the Caring: Choices for Caregivers" will be the theme of the 12th Biennial Conference of the Hawaii Pacific Gerontological Association, Nov. 1-2 at the Ala Moana Hotel.

Keynote speakers will be:

>> Gen. Fred Weyand, former U.S. Army chief of staff, who was primary caregiver 11 years for his wife, who had Alzheimer's disease.

>> Marilyn Seely, Executive Office on Aging director.

Alu Like Inc. is sponsoring the event with the gerontological society.

They are seeking nominations of an individual, group, company or agency helping to make aging a priority in the community.

Tomorrow is the deadline to submit names for "Na Lima Kokua" Awards.

Categories include communication/arts, community service, government, research/teaching, business and the Hideo "Major" Okada Scholar for students preparing for gerontology careers.

Nominations should be sent to Kuakini Adult Day Services, attention Jan Shishido, 347 N. Kuakini St., Honolulu, HI 96817.
