McKinley beats Farrington,
tied for second with Kahuku

McKinley stayed within a game of Kailua in the Oahu Interscholastic Association East Red Division, spoiling Farrington's homecoming 27-12 last night at Roosevelt's field.

The Tigers(3-1) are tied with Kahuku for second place in the division. Kailua is 4-0.

Daniel Desoto's fourth-quarter interception stalled a comeback attempt by the Governors, who moved within 14-12 with 7:35 left in the game on DionteNomaaea's 59-yard touchdown run.

McKinley got its cushion back when Joshua Bumanglag scored on a 3-yard run with 3:44 left in the fourth quarter, giving McKinley a 20-12 cushion.

Michael Vasconcellos added a 2-yard scoring run two minutes later -- his second TDof the game -- to seal the win.

Farrington outrushed McKinley 245 yards to 113. The Governors' Matt Bell led all rushers with 111 yards, and he scored a TDin the second quarter.

TheTigers racked up 190 yards in the air though, as Abel Werner connected with four different receivers.

Two weeks ago, McKinley was a successful two-point conversion away from knocking off Kahuku.
