"Web Thinking -- Connecting, Not Competing, for Success"

Maui's Inner Ocean is carving out a niche in thoughtful meditations on getting along in the world today, and this work fits right in that groove. The title has nothing to do with the Internet, except in an elliptical, metaphoric way. The idea is that people tend to think in a linear, step-by-step fashion, like the rungs of a ladder, when the world is too complex and multi-faceted to use blinders. Fighter pilots call it "situational awareness." Seger's analogies are peculiarly female here, but there is plenty to think about here.

"Pele and the Rivers of Fire"

Pearl City librarian Nordenstrom, a talented collagist, turns his scissors and glue to the legend of Pele as she bursts forth from the landscape in fiery awesomeness. The art technique works particularly well here. The pages look hot!
