Holden honored
for woodwork

Robert Holden of Oahu has been named the winner of the Best in Show award at the 2002 Hawaii Wood Show for his sculpture "Auku'u" (Heron).

The pieces were judged by nationally recognized turner Michael Lee; master woodworker and furniture maker Peter Naramore; and interior designer Kathy Merrill Kelley, from 135 entries. The winning work will be on view through Sunday during the show at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

Admission is free and the show runs from noon to 10 p.m. today and Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Parking for Wood Show visitors will be validated at a rate of $1 an hour. For information, contact Charijean Watanabe at charijean@aol.com or 479-7042.

The Hawaii Forest Industry Association, which presents the annual show, is a nonprofit organization with more than 270 members interested in managing and maintaining healthy, sustainable, productive forests.
