>> John Gray joined Bank of Hawaii as executive vice president and manager of the mortgage banking division. He will oversee loan origination, underwriting, secondary marketing and servicing. He has more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage lending industry, most recently at OTX, where he managed the sales of a Web-enabled transaction management platform targeted to the top 100 mortgage originators.

>> Frank P. Richardson has joined Kaiser Permanente Hawaii as an attorney in its regional counsel's office and a member of the Health and regulatory practice group of the organization's national legal department. He is responsible for providing legal advice and support to the Hawaii region. Richardson was most recently the partner in charge of the health care law division at Rush Moore Craven Sutton Morry & Beh in Honolulu. Kaiser Permanente Hawaii is a health maintenance organization with 340 physicians and 4,000 employees serving 228,000 members statewide.

>> Rich Pinto has been hired by Beneficial Life Insurance Co. as agency manager for its Kailua office, which is responsible for business throughout the state, as well as the rest of Polynesia. His responsibilities will include recruiting financial professionals, training and motivating current professionals, and increasing sales. Pinto most recently worked with the Mony Group as a producing agent. Beneficial Life markets life insurance, annuities and other financial products.

>> Coffee Partners Hawaii announces four new district managers: Walter Gmuer, east Honolulu and Windward Oahu; Susan Llacuna, west Oahu; Larry Perez, downtown Honolulu and the Big Island; and Mary Yacks, Maui. Each district manager is responsible for quality control, store maintenance, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Coffee Partners runs Starbucks Coffee in Hawaii.

PROMOTIONS

>> Len DaSilva has been promoted to chief operating officer at Hilo Hattie. He was previously senior vice president of retail store operations. Prior to joining the company, he was general manager of Heritage Duty Free in Vancouver, Canada.

>> Aston Hotels & Resorts Hawaii has promoted Mark Mrantz to general manager at Aston Kaanapali Shores. The 22-year-employee is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the property. Mrantz most recently served as general manager of Aston at the Maui Banyan, where he was responsible for developing the property from a resort unit into a 155-unit rental program with a new front office and lobby. Former Aston Kaanapali Shores GM Jerry Fellows will focus on his role as area vice president responsible for the property's revenue growth, future renovation and remodeling issues. He has been with the company since 1982. Jerry Robertson was promoted to general manager of Aston at the Maui Banyan. He joined Aston Hawaii in 1984 as a front office manager on Maui. And Shirley Tsukano has been promoted to assistant vice president operations for quality assurance. She is responsible for developing programs to support guest service goals and working on unit quality improvement standards. She also oversees Aston Hawaii general managers on the neighbor islands. The 10-year Aston veteran most recently served as assistant vice president of national sales.

>> First Hawaiian Bank has promoted two officers: Patricia M. Sommers to assistant vice president and private banking officer, private banking center; and Michael R. Westfall to assistant vice president, trust employee benefits department. Sommers joined First Hawaiian in 1993 as a management trainee. Westfall has been a trust officer since 1999. The bank also hired Dean M. Murakami as assistant vice president, trust institutional financial services; Maria Teresa Okuda as employee benefit officer, trust employee benefits department; Annie H. N. Pang-Tan as audit officer, legal department; and Dalerie I. K. Tanigawa as administrative officer, legal department.

>> Camille Teshima has been promoted to rooms manager for the Sheraton Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotels. She was most recently the front office manager for the Princess Kaiulani. Alexander Cuevas has been appointed front office manager for the Princess Kaiulani. He was previously guest service manager.
