Chief of Staff Joan Manke said the 74-year-old Democrat remained in serious condition at Straub Clinic and Hospital, where she is being treated for pneumonia brought on by chickenpox.
"It is viral pneumonia, so recovery takes longer than the bacterial type," Manke said.
Mink's family has not provided any information on whether the congresswoman is conscious, or on a respirator, or her prognosis, Manke said.
Mink has been in serious condition since she was admitted to the hospital on Aug. 31. She is in the hospital's intensive care unit.
Mink is seeking re-election in the 2nd Congressional District. She has been in Honolulu since Congress recessed in August, and was scheduled to return to Washington early last week.
