What qualifies you to be a state senator?

My two years as a senior analyst at the Senate Ways and Means, gave me an understanding of how legislative process, and the state budget works. Also my six years assisting in legislation at DCCA helps me to understand the impact of legislation to the public and business.

What is the most pressing issue facing your district and what would you do about it?

Crime is an important issue for our district. On average, there are four to eight property crimes each day. This mainly stems from the rise of illegal drug use. I believe we need mandatory drug treatment programs for drug offenders and prevention programs in our schools.

What is the best way to stimulate the state's economy?

We must focus on a multi-faceted approach in improving Hawaii's economy. We must support diversified agriculture and the health care industry. This also helps our tourist industry. At DCCA we attract captive insurance companies. Hawaii is the second largest state in the U.S. where captive companies come to do business.
