Towing company workers cleared a tractor-trailer from Mamalahoa Highway yesterday in North Hilo's Kawalii Gulch. Robert "Bobby" Kamelamela, of Hilo, the 43-year-old driver of the truck, was killed in the accident. Police said the rig was headed toward Hilo near the bottom of Kawalii Gulch when it ran off the right shoulder and hit a guardrail. Kamelamela was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about four hours later.
