Churches in Aina Haina and Mililani are inviting their neighbors to celebrate the Labor Day weekend close to home.

The Mililani Presbyterian Church congregation plans its fourth annual Block Party next Saturday with free food and entertainment. The event will be from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 95-410 Kuahelani Ave., across from Kipapa Park. It will offer a youth concert featuring Skanabata, clowns and an inflatable bouncing castle for younger children, and hula and prize drawings to entertain adults.

The Church of the Holy Nativity's Family Weekend starts at 7 p.m. next Saturday with a teen dance in the gym at 5286 Kalanianaole Hwy. Admission for middle and high school students is free, but participants are asked to bring a nonperishable food donation for Hawaii Foodbank.

Events Sunday, Sept. 1, will include a fair with food and game booths from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., a softball game at 1:30 p.m. and an informal bridge tournament from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

An overnight camp-out at Osco Field on Sept. 1 will begin with a 4 p.m. "bring your own picnic supper" and continue with storytelling around the campfire. Families are invited to bring tents. Shower and bathroom facilities will be available.
