Isabelle Leialoha Akau, 86, of Kaneohe, died Aug. 1 in Kaiser Medical Center. She was born in Hilo. She is survived by sons Joseph "Dohdie" and Ernest; daughters Esterae "Rae" Hagen and Miriam; brothers Christian and Joseph Leialoha; sisters Esther Aki, Evonne Howard, Katherine Seay and Pauline Freeman; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mildred "Maggie" Alvarez, 74, of Hilo, died Wednesday in Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Makawao, Maui. Dayton Kalani Goodman, 19, of Hilo, a Rod & Co. employee, died last Sunday in Kona Community Hospital. He was born in Hilo. Edward Lonoikamakahiki Hopeau, 58, of Keaukaha, Hawaii, a retired merchant sailor and plumber for the USS Independence, died Thursday at home. He was born in Honolulu. Robert Francis James, M.D., 81, of Honolulu, a retired Tripler Army Medical Center physician, died Thursday in St. Francis Hospice-Nuuanu. He was born in New York. Linda Rae Kauinui, 47, of Keaau, Hawaii, a Legal Aid Society of Hawaii secretary and former practical nurse for the State of California, died Wednesday in Hilo Medical Center. She was born in California. She is survived by husband Dennis, daughter Sossity Rapoza, mother Irene Bigler, brother Mike Bigler, sisters Nina Smith and Flora Bigler, and three grandchildren. William "Kelly" Yates Keliinoi, 45, of Waianae, died Aug. 10. He was born in Honolulu. Alfred William Kirchner, 84, of Honolulu, a retired U.S. Army colonel and a WWII, Korean and Vietnam war veteran, died July 22. He also served 25 years on the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board and was president for three terms. He was born in New York.
