Virginia Poepoe Cruz, 77, of Wahiawa, a deaconess at Wahiawa Seventh Day Adventist Church, died Aug. 2. She was born in Honolulu. Herman "Boy" Kealoha Gilman III, 43, of Waianae, a contracting foreman for Gentry Homes, died Aug. 3 at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife of 20 years Lydia Anderson and wife of one year Rhonda Lagarejos-Gilman; sons Ikaika, Helemano and Kaipo; daughter Lana; mother Fannie; sisters Ramona Yandaza, Dee Wright, Sweety Emmsley, Kahale Tulua and Rebeca  Gilman; and brothers Derick and Asai. Hanayo Haida, 90, of South Gate, Calif., a homemaker, died Aug. 3 in Maluhia Long Term Care Health Center. She was born in Waialua, Oahu. She is survived by sons Kenneth and Walter; daughter Clara Kramer; brother Jack Yoshida; sister Dorothy Okada; and two grandchildren. Private services.

Velma Lou L. "Leina" Hoohuli, 63, of Nanakuli, Hawaii, a Community Action Program substitute teacher for the Department of Education, died last Sunday. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by husband Josiah "Black"; sons Ivanhoe "Boy," Josiah "Juna" Jr. and Donald "Macky"; daughters Rachel "Momi" Kailianu, Charlene "Ipo" Flint-Clendenin and Olinda "Nina" Fisher; brothers Lawrence Jr., Bernard and Reginald Adams; sisters Charlene Kaeha, Miriam "Cheena" Hokoana and Lou Ann Kaaloa; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Shizue "Doris" Koyama, 90, of Lahaina, died Aug. 2 in Hale Makua, Wailuku. She was born in Lahaina. Tsukiyo Noda Nakamura, 81, of Hilo, a retired employee for the Big Island Educational Federal Credit Union, died Wednesday in Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Keaau, Hawaii.
