1960s spirit flowers
at Worrall’s blast

The spirit of the free-wheeling '60s was in full flower last Saturday night at Mary Worrall's birthday party at a Kahala home. Guests showed up in bell bottoms, colorful shirts, beads, necklaces, headbands and jeans and many wore flowers in their hair. Go-go dancers Kylie Coonse and Sarah Ferrer, going strong on a platform, greeted guests. Ginai and the Summer of Love Band knocked out hit after hit from the 1960s. Cissy Wood, my sister-in-law, died Monday night in Castle Hospital after suffering from serious illnesses for years. She was 78. Cissy was the youngest of 13 brothers and sisters. She was a tower of strength in her prime. She and my late brother, Elliott, were overly generous in earlier years, throwing big dinners for family and friends on Sundays and holidays at their Kaneohe home. Those were good times. She leaves four children: Emory, Mamo and Mary Lou Wood and Kaina Awaa. Services are at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Borthwick's. Visitation starts at 11 a.m. Burial is at Punchbowl at 3 p.m. ...
