Christmas Starks, 12, focused her energy yesterday during an exercise at "Breaking Through 2002" in Hawaii Kai. The event, led by Delorese Gregoire, was to motivate the girls and bolster their self-esteem. The event culminated with more than 60 girls breaking slabs of wood with their bare hands to symbolize breaking through obstacles. The event was held by the Hawaii Girls Project, Coalition for Drug-Free Hawaii and the Rotary Club.
