Papa Roach delivers
on ‘lovehatetragedy’

Nü-metal fans, too bad you aren't in Los Angeles today. The multiplatinum-selling Papa Roach is playing a rooftop show at Best Buy to celebrate the release of its new album. According to the band's press release, "in true arena style, a 20-foot inflatable baby will dominate the specially constructed rooftop stage. ... The baby is a reference to the (CD) cover, which depicts a nude baby wearing headphones and throwing the heavy-metal horn sign."

"lovehatetragedy" is the follow-up to Papa Roach's humongous-selling "Infest." Members Jacoby Shaddix, Jerry Horton, Tobin Esperance and David Buckner burst onto the national scene two years ago with the "Infest" album track "Last Resort." "She Loves Me Not" is the first radio track off of the new album.

Originally hailing from the "onion capital of the world," Vacaville, Calif., Shaddix, in a Launch.com interview, said the band leans "more toward hip-hop, punk and funk, and we also have a rock influence, but we're not really rap-core. The songs have a pop structure, and they're very melodic, with a lot of layers and orchestration."

Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Limp Bizkit) follows his "Infest" production duties with the band on "lovehatetragedy." Initial copies of the album will be enhanced with two performance videos and two bonus tracks, covers of the Pixies' "Gouge Away" and Faith No More's "Naked in Front of the Computer."
