A dead whale washed ashore yesterday just north of the Kualoa Sugar Mill ruins on Kamehameha Highway. Although the carcass was decomposed, it quickly attracted curious onlookers. Krystl Matsunaga, left, had to cover her nose because of the stench. Her friend Roxannie Razo eventually did so as well. The state posted signs along the beach warning the public of the possible presence of sharks drawn to the carcass.
