A crowd gathers outside the doors of the new Costco that opened today in Iwilei. The number of people was somewhat larger than usual for a normal business day, but not as large as expected for a grand opening. Traffic control measures were in place in case the crowd surged later today.

Abraham Keliinui, Jimmy Woolsey and Colin Kalama Malai stood at attention with javelins and a spear yesterday before the statue of King Kamehameha the Great. The ceremony at Aliiolani Hale honored the king with a birthday tribute.
