Savovic sits after
lighting up NBA camp

Former Hawaii guard Predrag Savovic scored just eight points yesterday but it was enough to help Team Four to its first win in three games at the NBA Predraft Camp in Chicago.

"I'm having a great time and I'm shooting well," Savovic said in a telephone call last night. "I only played 11 minutes today because they wanted more time to look at someone else. I've already done well."

Savovic scored a combined 36 points in Team Four's two losses this week. He made Bulls.com's camp honor roll both days, scoring a team-high 19 Wednesday and a game-high 17 points in Thursday's 82-80 defeat.

On Thursday, Savovic had 13 second-half points, including a 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds left to bring his team to within 82-80.

Walton, who pitched for Hawaii from 1982-85, replaces Gil Patterson, who became the pitching coach when Mark Connor decided to leave the Blue Jays on Wednesday, two days after manager Buck Martinez was fired.

Walton, a major-leaguer with Oakland, Montreal and Colorado from 1991-94, had been serving as the Blue Jays roving minor league pitching instructor since 1998.
