Join the Love Parade!

The touring rave party known as the Love Parade is making another stopover in Honolulu tomorrow. The co-production with Go Ventures is 10 years old and going strong, and DJs representing the promotion team include L.A. spinners Reza and Rene and Hawaii's own Space Cowboy. Other visiting DJs include Mars (San Francisco's No. 1 trance deejay), Thee-O (Biohazard from L.A.), Huggies (Global Energy in L.A.) and Neil K. (Modern Romance in L.A.). Rounding out the lineup are local lights G-Spot, Mizota, PSI, IKON and Bass Drum Ben.

Summer jam with Ja Rule

Hip-hop/R&B artists Ashanti and Amanda Perez will not be appearing at the I-94 Summer Jam at the 50th State Fair as scheduled. Only Ja Rule will perform.

Other acts are being sought to fill out the bill. Call TicketPlus at 526-4400 for refunds.

Ja Rule, who scored a triple-platinum album with "Rule 3:36" and followed up with "Pain Is Love," was named 2001 solo artist of the year by Vibe.

A Micronesian experience

An "Enchanting Evening in Micronesia" at Honolulu Hale combines traditional dance and music performances in a cultural celebration that is part of the city's "Hawaii Ethnic Heritage Series."

The arts and handicrafts of Micronesia will be highlighted, along with traditional food of the South Pacific.

Feng shui design

Go with the energy flow of design and take in "An Introduction to Feng Shui" 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Hawaii State Library's Social Science & Philosophy Section, second floor, Ewa side.

The free workshop will be taught by Clarence Lau, who uses the traditional compass method of feng shui and teaches it at the Kaimuki Community School for Adults. Lau has done consultations for many businesses and residents in Hawaii.

When it comes to lawns, the choice you make can come down to grass roots, and the Urban Lawn Center can help with its workshop on grass 9:30 a.m. tomorrow.

The free class will cover Bermuda, zoysia, St. Augustine, seashore paspalum and centipede grasses. The center is located at 962 2nd St. For more information, call 453-6050.

The right way to remodel

Don't start knocking down walls before checking out the "Remodel It Right" seminar, taking place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 8 at Kahala Mall.

Remodeling vendors will also stage a mini-expo from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with experts offering tips on financing and hiring an architect, remodeler or landscaper. Representatives from the city Department of Planning & Permitting and state Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs will talk about permits and other issues involving contractors.

Show gives home ideas

Tax return checks are either in hand or in the mail, so take in the Finance Factors 2002 Home & Garden Show for ideas of home improvements you've been putting off. The show runs June 13 to 16 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, offering extensive exhibits, home improvement seminars, product and cooking demonstrations, entertainment and prizes. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. June 13 and 14, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. June 15, and 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. June 16.
