Memorial Day weekend sees the
opening of the 50th State Fair

Jaistyn Kawai, 1, tried to coax a little more speed from his steed as he rode the merry-go-round yesterday with his mom, Janelle Kawai, at the 50th State Fair at Aloha Stadium. The fair runs from 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays, and noon to midnight Saturdays and Sundays, through June 16. It is also open noon to midnight today and June 13. Admission to the fair is $3 for adults, $2 for children 4 to 11, free for children under 3. Military personnel receive free admission today with a valid ID.

Professional motocross rider Drake McElroy got some air time yesterday during "Moto-X Spectacular," a demonstration of freestyle motorcycle dirt-jumping at this year's 50th State Fair at the Aloha Stadium. Show times are 1, 4, 7 and 11 p.m. daily.
