Waikiki cop honored as
HPD officer of the year

The Honolulu Police Department's 2002 Police Officer of the Year is Leland Cadoy.

The 12-year veteran of the Police Department is assigned to District 6 in Waikiki.

In addition to his regular duties, Cadoy coordinates the Keiki ID program for the district, assists with the Waikiki Citizens Patrol, oversaw the implementation of the Gold Coast Citizens Patrol, created a Deaf Awareness card for the hearing-impaired in Waikiki and organized photo identification cards for the hearing-impaired and the blind.

The department's Civilian Employee of the Year is HPD Information Technology Division data processing supervisor Patrick Chau.

The Reserve Officer of the Year is Joseph Becera.

And Police Parent of the Year is Officer Kose Godinet.

The recipients received their awards at a ceremony yesterday at The 200 Club Breakfast and Awards Ceremony.

The 200 Club sponsors the awards. The organization of 200 local business leaders provides immediate aid to families of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty.

The organization also funds police and firefighter training and education programs.
