Shriners Hospital patients and staffers celebrated National Hospital and Healthcare Week yesterday with a multicultural cooking contest. Katherine Korenaga, in Okinawan dress, and Quyen Thi, 12, of Vietnam, fashioned a haku lei for the event.

Ilikea Kahikina, 6, left, along with mom Leimana Kahikina and brother Hulili, 2, listened to her father, police officer Michael Kahikina, as he sang yesterday in the courtyard of the Honolulu Police Department headquarters on Beretania Street. He participated in the inaugural HPD Karaoke Contest as part of Police Week Activities, which is intended to remember officers who have died in the line of duty and other officers who have served their community in an exemplary manner.
