Jazz meets classics

Admission is $15 general, $10 for seniors, $5 for students, and free for children under 12. Advance tickets are available by calling Ward at 734-0397 or may be purchased at the door.

Concrete Blonde due

Concrete Blonde, featuring Johnette Napolitano, will be coming to Honolulu for one concert only at 8 p.m. June 21 at World Cafe. Tickets for the all-ages show go on sale May 25, at $20 general for all ages.

The Los Angeles post-punk icons were born out of the same literary rock scene that launched X and the Plimsouls. Although the band broke into the mainstream with "Joey" in 1990, Concrete Blonde shunned commercial success and followed by dabbling with Latin music, releasing "Mexican Moon" in 1993.

Politically active, the group's members continue to volunteer their time and talent to a number of causes, most recently headlining a benefit concert for the teen runaway organization Children of the Night.

"Group Therapy" was the band's first album of all-new material since 1994.

Tickets will be available at Tower Records Kahala and Pearl Kai, Tower Video Kapiolani, Cheapo Music Puck's Alley and Pearl Kai, Pearl Harbor Bloch Arena, ITT Kaneohe MCBH, Schofield ITR, the University of Hawaii Campus Center, World Cafe box office, 808 Skate in Kailua and Foodland stores. Or charge at 526-4400.
