Suzuki and Nishimoto to be
inducted into Hall of Fame

Lance Suzuki and Dan Nishimoto will be inducted into the Hawaii Golf Hall of Fame tomorrow morning at the Hawaii Prince Hotel in Waikiki beginning at 11:30.

Suzuki, who turns 51 on June 16, has won 43 tournaments in Hawaii -- including a record eight Mid-Pacific Open titles. The former star guard for the Kahuku High School basketball team also won the Waikoloa Open eight times, the JAL Rainbow Open five times and the Hawaii State Open four times. He also has six Kauai Open titles and has captured the Navy-Marine Open, Maui Open, Army Open, Hawaii Pearl Open and the Makaha and Hilo Open.

Nishimoto, a native of Kauai, finished first in the Makalena State Open, State Amateur Stroke Play Championship, Hilo Open, ANA Makaha Open and the State AJA.

Tickets to tomorrow's luncheon cost $35.

Strata offers new balls for Hawaii golfers to hit

Golfers across the state will get the opportunity to test a new ball called Strata Tour Straight on Saturday at several sites.

On Oahu, visit the Hawaii Kai Golf Course, Pro-Am Golf shop on Kapiolani Blvd, Mid-Pacific Country Club, Pearl Country Club and Makaha Valley Country Club to hit the ball.

Other locations are the Sandalwood Golf Course (Maui), Kona Country Club (Big Island), Poipu Bay Resort Golf Course (Kauai) and Kauai Lagoons.

The Strata Tour Straight, manufactured by Spalding, will be available in stores May 6.
